So I'm watching Super Dimension Fortress Macross, the series that is just about as old as I am. The main character is a pilot called Hikaru who, in the eighth episode, gets promoted and assigned two rookies of his own. I look at the picture and thinks, "Ooh, he gets a girl pilot! She has pretty blue hair."

And then the character speaks.

And I have to hit the stop button because OH SHIT BOOMING MANLY VOICE BRAIN CANNOT PARSE COMPREHENSION ERROR.

So pretty blue-haired girl pilot is actually pretty blue-haired BOY pilot who goes by the name of Maximillian;anime needs to stop flinging this sort of thing into my face.

Max is my new fictional 2D screen boyfriend.



I love him so much. He is so freaking adorable, I want to squish him. What can I say, I like pretty boys with shoulder-length bobs and huge librarian glasses. He looks like T-chan in so many shots, I swear. A happy version of T-chan. 



I also kind of really want to slash him with Hikaru, a.k.a his captain, a.k.a. the protagonist of the show. That last JUDICIOUS USE OF THE CTRL-P!screencap is just putting all sorts of ideas in my head.

The next time someone laments "O how I miss the good old days of oldschool anime where MEN LOOKED LIKE MEN!!!!", I shall point them to Maximillian and then LAUGH AND LAUGH AND LAUGH AND LAUGH.
