First of the art request meme entries. [info]prix_etoile asked for House, Firefly, LOST. I mixed the three. Somewhat.

I did this at work and had no picture references. Apparently I have no idea what Simon, or at least Simon's hair, looks like. FAIL DESU NE?

House won't share his snacky box on the Magical Island of DOOM! River is not amused.

I stuck it in the my Scraps folder on DA

Update and progress of the other pieces:
  1. House + Firefly + LOST for [info]prix_etoile

  2. Hot brooding Dean w/gun for [info]killmotion (completed)

  3. River Tam for [info]groovy (coloring)

  4. Bubbletea L doujinshi for [info]forochel (planned, waiting for execution)

  5. Dean reading manga for [info]22by7 (planning draft)

  6. xxxHolic Doumeki/Watanuku chibis for [info]pkyyr (waiting for inspiration to strike :P)

My Threadless.com Submission
A 2.0/5! Not too shabby for a first submission, I think. I will keep at it. Maybe something more complex the next time, I'm thinking. A big thank you to everyone who voted. Your effort means a lot to me!

As Amazon.com very helpfully reminded me this morning, it is time once again for us TV lemmings to go forth and preorder the season box sets of our favorite shows on DVD.

Which is all fine and well, except that, looking at my finances at the moment, I can afford at most one of them box sets, if at all. Which leads to the problem--which one do I get? I have good reasons to want every one I'm looking at, and I really can't decide which one to go for.

So I'm turning to you folks for help. Because I have faith in your good taste and common sense.

Poll #1023501 The TV-on-DVD boxset poll, 2007!
Open to: All, detailed results viewable to: All

Which of the following DVD boxsets should I get, and why? (Choose one)

View Answers

Heroes Season 1
17 (42.5%)

Supernatural Season 2
10 (25.0%)

House M.D. Season 3
3 (7.5%)

LOST Season 3
2 (5.0%)

None of the above. Save your money.
8 (20.0%)

If you please, tell me the reason for your choice. And no, saying something like "BECAUSE IT'S SHOW X-AND-X OMG!!!!" doesn't count. I love all of these shows. With great fervor. I wouldn't be having such a hard time choosing if I didn't.[1] Does the boxset have better extras? Does the show deserve my money more? Or should the shiny packaging alone make it worth it?

Of course, amongst the four I have my own preferences, but my opinion is rather easily swayed, really.

In advance, THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP.

[1] Alright, so I love all of them equally except for LOST. But LOST has MIRA. And I haven't managed to watch any of the episodes where she's played a significant role this season.

We went to watch Ocean's 13 last week, my family and I, and it was a good romp, full of laughs and hijinks. (Read: you should go watch it. It may just be the best movie of the summer lot. Well, except maybe for the Transformers movie.)

On the way out of the theater I said to my sister, "We ought to assemble a team like that from our fandoms, no?"

She looked at me. "But who would we put in it?"

Several hours and a lot of brow-beating on my part later, this was the result.

I think it spoke for itself.

(I actually have a vague-ish plotline for it. Which actually makes sense, up to and including the inclusion of all the abovementioned characters. Don't be afraid! I do not bite.)

A long time ago, when I was still in the LOST fandom, I downloaded a picture linked by someone on my friendslist into my LOST folder of pictures: a magazine picture of Maggie Grace and some other guy.

Now, the thing about me and the LOST fandom is, I was never much of a picture-hoarder when I was in it. I made screencaps. I saved the occasional droolsome picture of Josh Holloway from his modeling days[1]. I... no, there's not even a third category. That was it. In the 1.5-ish years spent following the show I saved maybe about 15 pictures I found off the Internet. Why the heck I even downloaded that particular picture, I still can't fathom. I disliked Shannon, couldn't care less about the actress and had absolutely no idea who the Random Other Guy was.

So you can imagine my surprise when I came across that picture again when I was clearing out my LOST image folder.

Because it turned out that Random Other Guy... was none other than Jared Padalecki.

[insert large snort and giggle here]

My best guess is that I saw the picture, went, "Who cares if I don't give a rat's patoot as to who these people are?" and downloaded it for Teh Pretteh. Or maybe it was a portent of my SPN fannishness-to-come. Whatever it is, I have relocated the picture in my SPN folder. Amusedly.

And speaking of Jared Padalecki and oddball fandom collisions-- I nearly broke my brain the other day when I came across this picture while going through the pictures off the TCA-thingey.

Jared Padalecki and Scarlett Pomers.

Dude. That is Jared Padalecki and GROWN UP NAOMI WILDMAN. Holy frikken crap. My last memory of Scarlett Pomers was her being all twelve and adorable at the end of Star Trek: Voyager. She's eighteen now and all growed up and totally half of Jared's height, but that's because he's a 12-foot-tall anachronistic megafauna (sorry Jared, but it's totally true)[2]. Whatever. I totally refuse to believe six years have elapsed since the end of Voyager, because it makes me feel old.

(Oh [info]trilled, remember our glorious J/Cer days? The midnight scouring of fanfic.net? The episode marathons at Sandy's place? My sketching Chakotay plushies during Bio lectures because I couldn't give two hoots as to what Kishore was going on about? And all our pervy Janeway bathtub fantasies! What d'ya mean, my pervy Janeway bathtub fantasies?!)

(Oh damn, I FEEL OLD!!!!)

In other news, US Pair Agree Liverpool Takeover. Dude. I'm not even going to crack jokes about the club I'm supporting being taken over by American hicks. It's great that the 'Pool has come into a serious wad of money, but I am cheesed. Cheesed because the one patently non-American fan indulgence I currently have has just been TAKEN OVER BY YANKS, RWAAAARRHHHHH. Fine, you guys own my life, I am that sad, pshaw. Hah, wait-- no you don't! I still have all the kickass Yugoslav mullet rock I can listen to! HAH! I triumph! *fistwaves*

Huh. Wonder if an Abramovic-esque spending spree is on the cards?

[1] Speaking of whom, I had a weird dream in which Josh Holloway appeared during my fever-and-anti-fever-drug-induced-delirium bout on Monday (or was it Tuesday?). It was bizarre because my dream-persona was a cross between Kate and my real self, and I called him 'Sawyer' even though I knew his real name was Josh Holloway, and my family was totally giving me weird looks for talking to this shady-looking dude in dark glasses like he was an old friend. The bizarre juxtaposition of RL and fannish elements aside, what the hell was he doing in my dream? I left the LOST fandom ages ago and never looked back. Get thee out of my subconscious, I say! Bizzare.

Although it certainly wasn't scary as the dream I had this morning (last night?) while still on medication, in which I was one of the production staff on Supernatural and for some reason everyone was checked into a hotel, and then JENSEN SLIT HIS WRIST in the bathroom and Jared kicked the door down and found him, and we had to hold his arm up to staunch the bleeding and had to blow air into his lungs, like a paper bag, until the ambulance came, but by the end of the dream it was twelve minutes and still not a sign, and I remember thinking "If help hasn't come by now, it never will." So Jensen died. JENSEN DIED IN MY DREAM. What kinda weirdo fucked-up dream is that?! I totally blame the Ibuprofen I was on, which also made me do things like make an inexplicable sketch of Jared as a CREEPY POSITRONIC GIANT while still high and feverish. WTF, brain?

Moral of the story, kids: DRUGS ARE BAD FOR YOUR BRAIN. DON'T DO THEM.

[2] Dude, he's like bent over double in that photo and he still pips her by, like, half a foot. That's just... that's just not natural, man. See? Creepy Positronic Giant.

HERE THERE BE FANFIC BY [info]misshallelujah
Here is the fic I've written for various fandoms I've played around in, all listed in reverse chronological order. The quality of the writing deteriorates as you travel backwards in time, so read the older fics with this caveat in mind. (Writing is a life-long learning process. You get better as you go along. It's inevitable.)

Mobile Suit Gundam b00bies:

Broken Is As Broken Does (Tieria/Feldt, M)
Summary: Feldt and Tieria find mutual solace in the aftermath of epsiode 25. This one came of of an interesting brainwave. I'd been wanting to write Tieria/Feldt for a while, and in the midst of writing it I thought, wouldn't it be nice to write a story without a single line of dialogue? I decided to combine both ideas and this was subsequently born.

Lost/Found (Gen, G, Alle-centric)
Summary: A set of short stand-alone drabbles which flesh out a backstory universe for Allelujah (and in a way, Soma). Pure speculatory fic. [Timestamp: Written May 2008]

[Part 1: Hide & Seek][Part 2: Private Eye][Part 3: Lost][Part 4: And He Saw That It Was][Part 5: Found][Part 6: Find A Friend (doujin)]

Sing Hallelujah (AlleTier, G)
Summary: Mood piece. Set after episode 25. Not explictly slashy, but can be construed that way. For some absurd reason, I've been trying to capture the feeling that you get around 5PM on a Sunday afternoon in prose for years, but I've never really succeeded. This is just another attempt.

5 Tracks Of An Orchestral Arrangement Of Handel’s Messiah Chorus (Iroiro na yaoi, NC-17)
Summary: Tieria gets a set of balls! Except that they're Ben Wa balls, courtesy of Allelujah Haptism. I wanted to write a fun, silly porny fic of absolutely no consequence, where all the Meisters have sex... without actually having sex.

25: A Triptych (Gen, PG)
Summary: Personal, completely unfounded speculation on cool things that could happen in episode 25, which would make me want to come back for season 2. Told from the viewpoints of Patrick, Allelujah and Tieria. [Timestamp: Written before airing of episode 25]

Backseat Cruise Control (AlleTier, NC-17)
Summary: Allelujah/Tieria PWP with Hallelujah backseat driving. Set in the same continuity as How To Skip Stones: bascially, it's the snarky evil twin of that fic. As requested by [info]pigtail78.

How To Skip Stones (AlleTier, PG)
Summary: Mood piece, set whenever (no spoilers for anything here). I wrote 2000 words about Allelujah and Tieria throwing rocks at things. It's not as brainless as it sounds.

Bird Of Paradise (Gen, PG)
Summary: Alejandro Corner inspects Celestial Being's potential fourth Gundam Meister, a boy genetically engineered by one of their cell labs. Speculatory fic, set pre-series. [Timestamp: Written before the airing of episode 19]

Crossroad (Gen, PG)
Summary: Saji answers Setsuna's desperate call for help, and finds his life changed forever. Speculative fiction about the future of the series. If Mobile Suit Gundam b00bies was a movie, then this scene would take place at the break of second act, which makes it partway through Season 2, I suppose. Yes, it's angsty. Yes, people talk too much. Yes, somebody dies. It's GUNDAM. [Timestamp: Written before the airing of episode 16]

Signal To Noise (Iroiro na yaoi, NC-17)
Summary: Originally written for the Gundam 00 kinkmeme. The prompt lay along the lines of "Tieria gets off spying on the other Meisters having sex" and I delivered it done cyberpunk-style with servings of angst and Meister-whoring on the side. Come on, the whole thing is set inside a giant computer core, what else did you expect me to do but Gibson it up?

Drabbles:

Formal Absences Of Precious Things (Allelujah, Tieria, PG13)
Summary: Tieria is dead, and all the regrets that there are follow. Speculatory, post time-skip, based on nothing at all.

Breaking The Silence (Allelujah/Tieria, NC-17)
Summary: Tieria and Allelujah come to brutal truths about their relationship, 4 years after being separated. Written on the fly over IM for [info]pigtail78.

Rules Of Acquisition (Gen, G)
Summary: [info]gundam_00 OP/ED fic contest entry. Tieria-centric, based on scene from the 1st ED.

Picking Up The Pieces (Tieria/Setsuna, PG)
Summary: Drabble in which Setsuna helps Tieria with awkward matters of dressing, so to speak. Spoilers for episode 19.

Meat Pie (Gen, M15)
Summary:A follow up to Apple Pie, now with extra crunchy (and squidgy) bits! General DO NOT WANT involving Hallelujah, not safe for young readers.

Apple Pie (Gen, PG)
Summary: V-Day scenelet drabble, based on the second ED. Also fluff.

Patchwork Quilt (Gen, PG)
Summary: Graham/Billy drabble, set post episode-18. Fluff, by my standards at least.

Supernatural:

All Your Demons, And The Non-Believers, The Plans That They Have Made
(The Penny, The Crown And The Queen)
(Gen, AU, slight character crossover)
Summary: One roadhouse, twenty special children, and a recipe for disaster. Sam and Dean attend a gathering of psychics, with unexpected results. Canon up to Born Under A Bad Sign. Not complete.

Part 1: Even In My Best Condition, Counting All The Superstition, I Am Riding All Alone
Part 2: We See A Thousand Rooms To Rest, Helping Us Taste The Bite Of Death

Why Do Men Have Nipples? (Sam/Dean, NC-17)
Summary: Inspired by Mark Leyner and Billy Goldberg's book of the same title. Sam interrupts Dean's reading on a cold, sleepless Seattle night.

Never Trust A Dream (Because It Will Always Break Your Heart)(Gen, PG)
Summary: Sam has written down every dream that has ever meant anything, except for one.

Exeunt The Flesh Mob(Gen, PG)
Summary: For the [info]spn_halloween prompt #161: At a Halloween Zombie Lurch, Sam and Dean have to sort through a parade of zombie-acting humans to destroy some actual zombies.

The Five People You Meet In Heaven (John-centric, G)
Summary: In between the self-explanatory title, the fact that it's John-centric, and the fact that it has spoilers for 2x01, I don't think I have to go into huge detail about what the gist of this fic is about. Basically, John dies, goes to heaven, and meets five people who were connected to his life in some way (and who are incidentally already dead as well). The ending may or may not be a surprise.

What He Can't Possibly Say (Drabble, Gen, G)
Summary: A coda to the last scene of "Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things", from Sam's half.

Missing (Gen, G)
Summary: Back on the road again, Sam. Insomnia strikes, nostalgia follows. Written for the [info]win_non_con Missing Scene challenge, for the episode Wendigo.

Blind (Gen, G)
Summary: For [info]spn_gleeweek RequestFest #22: Faith remix/coda/interlude for [info]krislaughs. More of a remix than anything of the episode, focusing around Sam instead.

Push The Trigger And Pull The Thread (Gen, PG-13)
Summary: Sam can kill you with his brain. Dean doesn't care.

Ahoy, Me Hearties! (Gen, G)
Summary: September 19th is International Talk Like A Pirate Day. How can Dean pass up the chance?

10 Things Dean Winchester Remembers About Their First Kiss (Sam/Dean, PG-13)
Summary + Notes: [info]ignipes woke and said, today shall be That Sam Winchester Sure Knows How To Kiss Day. [info]misshallelujah's muse woke and said, today shall be the day I show you that you can write a thousand words in three hours while running a Western blot at the same time. Thus, this was born. My sane mind refuses to take responsibility.

The Nothing Fight (Sam/Dean, R)
Summary: The brothers fight, then kiss and make up. This is Sam's internal monologue after.

Checking In (Gen, PG)
Summary: John POV fic, set soon after "Skin".

He Said "Dude, You've Got To Update Your Tape Collection". And So He Did (Gen, PG)
Summary: Sam introduces the Metallicar to his iPod. Dean's musical tastes are initially unamused.

Let's Name Her Chelsea (Gen, PG)
Summary: The Impala starts talking to Dean. As if it would surprise anybody, Sam is not amused.

Others/Crossovers:

The Root Of The Problem (Or, God Shave The King!) (Kyou Kara Maou!, Art/fic, PG-13)
Summary: The sovereign of a nation is expected to abide by the customs of his people. Unfortunately, some of the customs are more pain-inducing than others.

More Than Meets The Eye (SPN/Transformers, Gen, G)
Summary: One day Dean wakes up and finds out that his car is an alien robot in disguise.

X&Y (SPN/X-Men, Gen, G)
Summary: Sam seeks help in an unexpected quarter. Written for the [info]win_non_con Movie Prompt challenge: making use of the X-Men movieverse somehow. Based on the assumption that the X-Men movies are set "sometime in the near future", this takes place post-Bloodlust but pre-The Last Stand. Also based on fanspec theory I first saw over at [info]destina's journal and fell unreasonably in love with.

Happy Feet (House, gen, G)
Summary: House gets an odd podiatric gift, and decides to share the love.

Still A Win (EPL RPS, Steven Gerrard/Xabi Alonso, R)
Summary: Stevie G looks for Xabi after the home game against West Ham, worried that the fall he had was more than what it seems. (Not quite explicit) sex ensues. The newbie is amused.

Too Much Hair (SPN/Firefly xover, gen, PG)
Summary/Notes: I conceived of, and wrote this, while commuting. May be the genesis of a few new ideas. Trains do bad things to brains.

Dragostea din Tei intr-un Camp de Lubenitze Vampir (Translation: Love From The Linden Tree In A Fieldful Of Vampire Watermelons.) (O-Zone RPS, Dan/Arsenie/Radu, NC-17)
Summary: O-Zone M/M BDSMPWP With Vampires In. And watermelons. Arsenie shows Dan and Radu a good time, in a manner of speaking.

The Very Sekrit Diary Of Danielle Rousseau (LOST, parody, R)
Summary: Danielle tells it like it is. How she got stranded on an island with the rest of her mates and ended up shooting everyone.

(And here's an archive of really old stuff that even I dare not look at anymore, since it was written when I was, what, 17? and definitely lacking in quality.)

Babylon 5:

Yellowed Letters
Summary: For [info]thefiringline's War Prayer challenge. Reflections, in three parts. Mostly Susan and Delenn.

Classified Secrets
Summary: For [info]thefiringline's Parliament of Dreams challenge. Garibaldi realizes what his second least favorite activity in the universe is-- escorting a wasted Ivanova back to her quarters.

Something Worth Living For
Summary: For [info]thefiringline's Infected challenge. What is worth living for? Two characters must make the journey of discovery.

Late Night Drinks
Summary: For [info]thefiringline's Born To The Purple challenge. Ivanova has never been the best at coping with loss.

Small Surprises
Summary: For [info]thefiringline's Soul Hunter challenge. Ivanova needs to do a small favour for Jeffrey Sinclair, one which she doesn't particularly like: talking to Delenn.

The Hour After Midnight
Summary: For [info]thefiringline's Midnight On The Firing Line challenge. It's after midnight. What goes through eveyone's minds as they are alone in their quarters at last?

Glass Mirrors (We Are Not Alone)
Summary and Notes: After Talia leaves B5, Susan finds comfort in the unlikeliest of places. Many thanks to [info]hobsonphile for betaing and deleting copious numbers of gratuitous commas (bad habit of mine, that).
